PA Treasury Holds Unclaimed Property Event in Warren County

The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry recently held a second Unclaimed Property session in collaboration with the PA Treasury, offering assistance to residents, businesses and non-profits in locating unclaimed property.
According to state statistics, one in ten people have unclaimed property.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania Treasury Department emphasized their commitment to returning these funds to their rightful owners.
During the Warren County events, over $60,000.00 of unclaimed property was discovered, which will now be returned to residents, businesses and non-profits, including almost $25,000.00 which will be going back to a local volunteer fire department.
“This event is not just for individuals," stated Heidi Villella, Outreach Specialist for the PA Treasury. "Local businesses, non-profits, and even local governments, can have money in unclaimed property. Treasurer Stacy Garrity is big on getting funds back to people because it is not the states money, it’s everyone else's.”
This service is free to the public and can be accessed from home via the PA Treasury website.
For those who prefer in-person assistance, the PA Treasury will be hosting another Unclaimed Property Event in Corry on Wednesday, October 16th from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the Corry Community Center.
"These events are truly one of my favorite parts of this job," added Villella. "Helping people find their property and guiding them to get it back, it's very rewarding. People are excited when they get $5.00 back, and when it's $1,600.00 or more, they are ecstatic."
