Defenseman Ty Henry was the latest Erie Otter to hear his name called at the NHL Draft.

The Chicago Blackhawks selected the 6'4" defenseman in the sixth round on Saturday.

Henry has spent parts of the last two seasons in Erie. He made his Ontario Hockey League debut on Nov. 26, 2022, against the Barrie Colts. He played three games.

Last season, Henry appeared in 54 games for the Otters, notching seven assists.

"All of our players aspire to be drafted in the National Hockey League, and we are thrilled for Ty," said Erie Otters general manager Dave Brown. "Ty's            dedication and perseverance have enabled him to achieve his goal. We can't wait to work with Ty and the Chicago Blackhawks support his growth and progress."

The Montreal, Quebec native becomes the 45 player in Otters' history selected to the NHL. This marks the fourth straight year Erie had at least one player picked.

Henry's selection by the Blackhawks marks the second-straight draft in which Chicago selected an Otters' player. In 2023, Chicago picked Martin Misiak in the second round. Former Erie Otters Taylor Raddysh is a current member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Henry is the fourth player ever selected by Chicago.
