The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be hosting a free children's bicycle rodeo in connection with the Oil Heritage Festival.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 27 in the parking lot between the PennDOT District 1 office and the Crawford Area Transportation Authority facility along Elm Street in downtown Oil City. The bike rodeo will begin at 11 a.m. and will wrap up around 1 p.m.

During the event, the Venango County Sheriff's Office will conduct helmet and bike inspections for all children. All riders will receive an Oil Heritage Festival ribbon after completing stations that teach safe biking habits.

Additionally, a random drawing will be held to giveaway two free bikes donated by the Crawford Area Transportation Authority.

A free hot dog lunch will be provided for participants.

All participants should bring their own bike and helmet. Participants should be accompanied by a parent or guardian who sign a participation permission slip.

Those interested in attending can register in advance online. The bike rodeo is open to children ages 5 to 12.
