PennDOT to Begin Project to Replace Route 426 Bridge in Warren County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is preparing to begin a project to replace the 89-year-old bridge that carries Route 426 over Brokenstraw Creek in Warren County.
Work on the bridge is expected to begin on September 16, weather permitting. The bridge is located approximately 4.5 miles north of the intersection with Route 27.
The project will include removal of the existing structure and replacing it with a precast concrete box culvert. Additionally, work will include minor paving of the roadway leading up to the bridge as well as updating the guiderail.
According to PennDOT, the project will require a 21.8 mile detour, which will be posted using Route 27 and Route 6. The detour will be in place for 2 weeks.
The new bridge is expected to be completed and opened by September 30.
The existing bridge was built in 1935 and is rated in poor condition.
More information on the project can be found on PennDOT's website.
