Meteorologist Kelly Roland joined Erie News Now in September 2024, and she is eager to embrace the opportunities for growth and learning at WICU/WSEE.

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Kelly recently graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Geoscience and a concentration in Broadcast & Operational Meteorology. Her lifelong passion for atmospheric sciences has driven her deep interest in understanding the dynamics of weather and climate. She is particularly excited to deliver forecasts for Northwest Pennsylvania and is looking forward to the unique challenge of forecasting lake effect snow.

Kelly's journey into Meteorology began with Hurricane Sandy in 2012, an event that sparked her curiosity about weather patterns and impacts. The experience was a turning point that solidified her desire to pursue a career in meteorology.

Outside of her professional duties, Kelly is very excited to be in Erie and explore the local area. She looks forward to spending time at Presque Isle Beaches and participating in the vibrant community events that the region has to offer. In her personal time, Kelly enjoys visiting yard sales and thrifting, activities that allow her to unwind and discover unique finds.
