Erie Events to Adopt New Bag Policy at All Venues

Erie Events is adopting a policy which will limit what kind of bags patrons can bring into its venues starting this month, according to an announcement Tuesday.
It will affect all public ticketed events at Erie Insurance Arena, Warner Theatre and Bayfront Convention Center starting Saturday, Sept. 28, which is the day of the Erie Otters home opener.
Attendees are allowed to bring in clear bags measuring 12” x 12” x 6” or a small clutch or wallet no larger than 5” x 8” x 2”. Exceptions will be made for medical bags and diaper bags following proper inspection at the venue entrance.
The bag policy prohibits all non-clear purses and bags larger than 5” x 8” x 2” including backpacks, large purses, camera bags, briefcases, computer bags). Bags that do not fit the description will not be allowed inside.
All bags and patrons will still be subject to a security screening.
“Policies like this have become standard operating procedures at event venues across the country," said Gus Pine, executive director of Erie Events. "We want to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our patrons.”
Here's a look at the first events at each venue affected by the policy:
- Erie Insurance Arena: Erie Otters vs. Brampton (home opener) - Sept. 28
- Warner Theatre: Eerie Horror Fest - Oct. 4-5
- Bayfront Convention Center: Great Lakes Beach Glass Festival - Oct. 19-20
