Six McDowell High School students have been recognized as Commended Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. 

According to the College Board, the students are now placed in the top 50,000 out of approximately 3.65 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT in the 23-24 school year. 

In April, the organization identified the 50,000 highest scores. Roughly 16,000 of those high performers moved on as Semifinalists. The other 34,000 have been named Commended Students. 

The following McDowell students have been recognized as Commended Scholars: 

  • Ireland Fullmer 
  • Aadya Gupta 
  • Jayoung Kim 
  • Mia Liu 
  • Heidi Murdock 
  • Erica O'Donnell
