Hundreds of local residents and incoming visitors gathered at Beach One to raise money for the 49th Annual Erie County Crop Hunger Walk.

Jim Haas the coordinator of the walk explains the crucial role the Eries community plays in the fight against hunger.
Jim Haas said, " Funds we raised here will be distributed locally to food pantries and other programs to help feed people. There are about fifty Crop Walks in the state of Pennsylvania, and we are number one because our community is so generous. There are six hundred walks nationally and we rank number nine. "

Joining the walk were multiple local non-profit organizations and Faith community members.
Also joining the walk was Erie News Now Mark Soliday and Kara Coleman serving as honorary co-chairs for the event.

Also joining was special guest Mayor Joe Schember who outlined the organizations goals.
Mayor Joe Schember explains, "The goal is to bring more people every year, raise more money, and really move people out of poverty and in the middle class. This is really helping the people that need it most in Erie and everyone here is committed to helping them."
