Labcorp Specializes in Tracking Health: Giving You the Business

Certain times in life require people to get tests. A new business in Erie County specializes in taking blood tests for people. But that’s not all they can help patients and businesses with.
A first-floor space inside an Erie County office building is where Labcorp Regional Vice President, Todd Homan, says the company has grown locally.
"We have about 67,000 employees in about 100 countries around the world," said Todd.
The business has more than 140 locations across the state of Pennsylvania. One location that opened in August is for more than just getting routine blood or lab work done.
"We have background check companies that coordinate all the pre-employment drug testing and whatnot, so those are big clients of ours. And also physicians in the community who are ordering testing in patients," said Todd. "Walk-ins are welcome at Labcorp, but scheduling is preferred. And one of the ways to do that is through this kiosk where you can not only check in but you can schedule an appointment. What’s more, this will even estimate what to pay for the services you get. And even after you get that testing done, there is an app. So, this portal for Labcorp will tell not only what your results are, but you can schedule another appointment, too."
Along with the broad-based test menu for hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, Labcorp works with researchers on drug development.
"Within our company, we have a very strong research and development pipeline," said Todd. "We develop about 50 to 100 new tests every year."
All to track health, that most times starts with a jab in the right direction.
This local Labcorp is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Courier service is offered, and another location is expected to open in the Erie area within the next few months.
