ABA All-Star David Blanks Sr. Returns to Erie for his Shooter Clinic
David Blanks Sr. began his basketball career in the fourth grade at Harding Elementary School, and as a local to the Erie area played high school ball at Strong Vincent.
With no offers out of high school, Blanks took his chance as a walk-on.
"I was offered a Board of Governors scholarship and an opportunity to walk on at Clarion University," Blanks said.
After four years at Clarion, Blanks wanted to continue playing the game of basketball. But, shortly after his college career, injuries nearly derailed his opportunity.
"Before I started my semi-pro career, I ruptured my achilles in 2010. Six months, no basketball," Blanks said. "Two years later, 2012, tore my right ACL."
Now Blanks has completed 10 seasons of professional basketball and coming most recently off of an ABA all-star selection... His skills on the professional level he hopes to use to train the next generation.
"Prayfully, a couple years from now I can be able to have one of my finished products be sitting in this same chair, giving this same interview," Blanks said.
The athletes attending his shooting clinic learned the B.E.E.F. method; Balance, Elbow, Eyes and Focus. In November Blanks begins a new ABA season with the Binghamton Bulldogs... With one goal in focus.
"Unfinished business, my ultimate goal is to win a national championship and ride off into the sunset," Blanks said.
