In the wake of recent business closures in Warren, a new store opened its doors October 30th.

Bough and Bend Floral, a women-owned flower and gift shop, celebrated its grand opening, arriving at a critical time as two local restaurants recently closed.

John Papalia, Vice President of the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry, noted the resilience of the local business community. “There have been a couple closures, but we still see positive movement and we still see people wanting to take their ideas and make them a reality, start their own business, so it’s a wonderful trend,” he said.

Bough and Bend Floral’s opening reflects a larger trend in Warren. Despite recent setbacks, women-owned businesses continue to gain momentum, joining the ranks of other women-run small businesses like the Arbor Coffee House, Twig and Vine, Chloe's Creamery, Allegheny Outfitters, and Salsa Solei.

Kate Fenstermacher, owner of Bough and Bend, expressed her thoughts on the importance of representation in the community. “There are so many other amazing woman-run businesses in the community, and I think that representation is really important, and showing that anyone can really follow their dreams and make them a reality. And as a woman especially in today’s world, I think it’s important to show that women are capable of anything,” she stated.

With Bough and Bend’s opening, the community takes another step forward, demonstrating that even amid challenges, the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Warren.

With new businesses like Bough and Bend opening, and support from the Warren County Chamber along with initiatives like Warren Worx working hard to attract and sustain businesses, Warren is positioning itself for growth and success.
