Spring Creek Power Outage Doesn’t Slow Voters

Election Day in Warren County saw a promising start, with many polling sites reporting a record-breaking turnout.
However, voters in Spring Creek Township faced an unexpected issue when a power outage briefly disrupted the polling station at the Volunteer Fire Department.
The outage was caused by a squirrel that had bitten into a power line, cutting electricity to the site. Despite the setback, election officials quickly adapted to keep the voting process moving.
“Earlier this morning, we had an incident where we lost power,” stated Spring Creek Township Judge of Elections, Andrea Parker. “But I called the courthouse to let them know we didn't have electricity, and through their channels they got a hold of the firemen who came out and started our generator."
During the outage, officials were able to continue processing voters by switching to paper ballots until the power was fully restored.
By 3:00PM, more than half of Spring Creek’s registered voters had already cast their ballots.
With strong turnout across the county, Warren County looks to be on track for record-breaking voter participation this year.
