WASHINGTON, D.C. - President-Elect Donald Trump returned to Washington on Wednesday. He met with congressional Republicans and President Joe Biden at the White House.

“Isn’t it nice to win,” Trump said jokingly at a meeting with House Republicans. He received a standing ovation from them and made a joke about a possible third term saying “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say ‘he’s so good we’ve got to figure something else out’”.

Currently the constitution limits presidents to just two terms. He also spoke about the success in the recent elections.

“We won it every way, all seven swing states by a lot, and Michigan was great. couldn't be better,” said Trump.

Later that day, Trump made his way back into the Oval Office to meet with Biden. This is a decades long tradition for the outgoing president to meet with the president-elect. A similar meeting like this one did not happen in 2020 when Trump was in office after he lost the election to Biden.

Here is the White House transcript of the brief meeting between the two in front of press:

President Biden: And looking forward to having a, like we said, smooth transition -- do everything we can to make sure you're accommodated, what you need.  And we're going to get a chance to talk about some of that today.  So --

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Good.

PRESIDENT BIDEN:  -- welcome.  Welcome back.

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Thank you very much.  And thank you very much. And politics is tough.  And it's, many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today.  And I appreciate it very much -- a transition that's so smooth it'll be as smooth as it can get. And I very much appreciate that, Joe.

It was a closed-door meeting between the pair and their Chief of Staffs. The meeting comes at a time when Trump is announcing his picks for Cabinet Secretaries and his administration. Trump’s office said the visit was a triumphant return to the nation’s capital as he’s set to take over the White House in just a couple of weeks.
