With Thanksgiving this week, many of you might be looking for holiday recipes...and sales.

One local car dealership is running its own Black Friday sale. But it’s just one way it’s connecting with customers for over 40 years.

Beth Weaver Baney has a special window in her office. She overlooks the service department. The work being done inside the Rick Weaver Buick GMC department is a big part of the business.

Balancing the sales at the dealership, which has a long history in the City of Erie.

"My dad would bring us here to pick weeds when we were very young, help paint on weekends, do the dirty work," said Beth. "We believed in that. So we were both always in the dealership."

She and her brother grew up around cars. Their late father, Rick Weaver, moved the family from Rochester, New York, to originally purchase the former Plumpton car dealership in Erie.

Then opened this one—carrying his name.

The Rick Weaver dealership has seen the growth along 12th Street since 1981. This is the new car lot at the main building, but then across the street at Liberty is the used car shop and the administration building, and then down the street is the body shop.

But trends have changed car sales. Especially with online options.

"Now the consumer is armed with so much more information, so I feel like we don’t have to sell cars, we just help people buy cars," said Beth.

Or use different options.

"There’s a time to lease, and a time to buy. Right now is a time to buy," said Ron Agnew, Salesman.

After decades of selling cars at dealerships, longtime salesman Ron Agnew—Ron sold his 10,000th here. A place he says is like family.

That makes Beth and her family proud to foster a family atmosphere. Along with the ups and downs of owning a business. While helping new and loyal customers with these big purchases.

"We really do all the work," said Beth. "Make sure this is something that meets their needs and is affordable."

While carrying on a longtime auto legacy.
