The Lake Effect storm led to some impressive snow totals across Erie County. One of the hardest-hit places was Girard which got just shy of five feet of snow between Friday and Monday.

59.3 inches, to be exact, The National Weather Service said.

That does not include the snow that fell on Tuesday.

Several people were out shoveling along Main St. Tuesday. They were trying to clear a path for people to get to businesses and apartments there.

“It wasn’t too bad, though. I had my fiance to help me with it, too. So between the two of us, we got it knocked out pretty quick,” said Elijah Cooper, who works in the area.

The feet of snow on sidewalks have made getting around difficult.

“You have to walk on the roads,” said Jack Randall. “You can’t walk in four [feet] of snow. I can’t. I’m 69 years old. There’s no way I can walk in four [feet] of snow.”
