New Traffic Light Coming to Intersection on Erie Bayfront
A new traffic light is coming to Erie’s Cranberry St. at the Bayfront Parkway, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
Starting Wednesday, weather-permitting, the signal will flash for at least three days before becoming fully operational.
The traffic light features smart detection to change lights only when cars stop on Cranberry St., countdown pedestrian signals, and emergency vehicle preemption.
Drivers heading west on the Bayfront Parkway will also see a protected left-turn arrow.
This upgrade is part of the Cranberry St. Safety Improvement Project, aimed at boosting pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
Last year’s work included new sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, and paving. Landscaping is planned for spring 2025.
The project, handled by M&B Services of Clarion, costs $571,142.
