Flagship Niagara League to Host Tall Ships Erie 2025

The Flagship Niagara League is set to host Tall Ships Erie 2025.
The four-day festival is set to take place on August 21-24.
The Flagship Niagara League hosts the event every three years, to highlight Erie's maritime heritage.
"What we do in creating this event is we put Erie on the map as being the center of sail training and tall ships for that one weekend," said Flagship Niagara League Executive Director William Sabatini. "Tall Ships Erie is about community. It's about this community coming together and showing the rest of the world who we are."
Visitors will have the chance to tour tall ships from around the world, right along Erie's bayfront.
However, the U.S. Brig Niagara is being sent to shipyard for repairs and will not be part of the event.
"Of course we want Niagara to be part of the event, but the ship is going to be off getting rebuilt, which is a good thing for the Niagara," said Sabatini. "I wish them well, and I hope the ship comes back better than ever."
The Lettie G. Howard fishing schooner will serve as the host ship.
"Lettie is going to be a big part of Tall Ships Erie and a big part of the greater Tall Ships Challenge that Tall Ships America puts on," said Sabatini. "Lettie is an important, historical vessel, so by taking her to all of these different ports, it really means a lot to the other ports in the Great Lakes."
Sabatini will formally announce the festival along with ticket prices once all of the details for the event are finalized.
