The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from Exit 9 to Exit 16 due to a multi-vehicle crash.

The highway is expected to reopen later today once the scene has been cleared.

Additionally, due to the high winds and low temperatures creating icy conditions, PennDOT has temporarily reduced the speed limit to 45 mph on all interstates in the northwest region.

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel. Speed limits are reduced on the following roadways:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 113 (Route 208/258, Grove City) to the end of I-79 in Erie County.
  • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton).
  • Interstate 86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line.
  • I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.
  • I-376 from the I-80 interchange to Exit 2 (Route 18, West Middlesex).
