It has been a few months since Erie Water Works started using a new billing system. There have been problems since. The newest one popped up earlier this week.

Earlier this week, some customers got an email from Erie Water Works that said, “due to a technical issue, your recent e-statement notification was not successfully sent.”

They hope to have the problem fixed by early next week, Erie Water Works CEO Craig Palmer said.

The system, launched in January, replaces one Palmer said was outdated.

Customers must create a new account to use Erie Water Works’ online billing portal. The old login will not work, Palmer said.

Late fees will be waived while the issue is addressed.

He said they had to launch the system in January because that was the start of their contract with the company.

“There are, unfortunately, hiccups that we had to overcome. Unanticipated. You think you have all the bugs worked out and then something pops up,” Palmer said.

“I think the important thing is we’re going to do everything we can to as quickly address the problem as we can.”

He recommended people call Erie Water Works or go to their website for more information.
