Warren County is pushing to expand high-speed internet access across the region.

County commissioners are highlighting two major projects applying for federal funding through the $42.45 billion BEAD (Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment) program.

Pennsylvania is set to receive $1.16 billion with Warren County aiming for a share.

One proposal, led by CoreConnect, seeks $178 million in grants to build a network serving 10 counties including Warren. The project would expand broadband to nearly 20,000 households, create 392 jobs and promote competition by allowing multiple providers to use the same infrastructure.

Warren County made a $10,000 contribution to help facilitate the application process.

Verizon has also submitted a plan targeting several Warren County municipalities. If approved, these projects could transform internet access in the area within three years.

Commissioners say improved broadband access is a key to future redevelopment in Warren County.
