The trial for the Corry man charged with killing a pregnant Amish woman has been delayed due to new evidence in the case.

Jury selection was scheduled to start next week for Shawn Cranston, 53. It will now be pushed back to June 9.

The defense requested the postponement because of new information prosecutors received in the case, according to the order. Crawford County Court of Common Pleas Judge Francis Schultz signed off on the order Friday.

Cranston is charged with killing 23-year-old Rebekah Byler. Her body was discovered by her husband inside their Sparta Township home Feb. 26, 2024.

Police said Byler suffered multiple wounds to her neck and a gunshot wound to her head, and her 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were home at the time of the crime.

According to the search warrant, their son told police he saw a green truck pull into their driveway, and a man entered their home and killed his mother.

State police have focused their investigation on a red Jeep owned by Cranston.

A trooper who conducted data analysis on Crantson's cell phone and Jeep testified Cranston's vehicle was in the Byler's driveway on the morning of Rebekah's death.

The warrant and witnesses indicated Cranston spent time in the Amish community in the weeks leading up to Rebekah's death.
