Barber Beast on the Bay Ending after 12 Years

Barber Beast on the Bay is coming to an end after 12 years.
Organizers announced Tuesday on social media the final event will be Sept. 6, at Presque Isle State Park in Erie.
Over the years, more than 13,000 participants have raised over $830,000 for the Barber National Institute, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
The decision to conclude the 10-mile obstacle course event was made to celebrate its success and leave a lasting legacy, according to the announcement. However, the adapted course, a key part of the event, will continue in a new, reimagined format.
In a statement, organizers expressed gratitude to participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their support. They also encourage the community to continue supporting Barber National Institute through volunteering, donations or advocacy.
Registration for the final event is $125. Details are available online here.
