7 Charged in Connection to Friday's High School Basketball Fight in Meadville

Charges are now filed in connection to a fight in the stands during a high school basketball game.
It all follows a brawl that broke out at last Friday's boys' game between Meadville and Uniontown.
What apparently started as a fan brawl toward the end of the fourth quarter of that game spilled onto the court involving some players.
"It's very unfortunate. It underscores everything that these young men have worked for throughout the season and earned to get there," said Chief Michael Stefanucci, Meadville Police Department. "It's certainly not how you'd want to remember your senior year nor do I think it's not what Meadville athletics is about."
According to Meadville's police chief, seven people are now facing charges. That includes four adults and three students. Here's a look at the charges they face:
- Reginald Grooms, 44, of Uniontown - simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct
- Notorious Grooms, 18, of Uniontown - disorderly conduct
- Malik Wilson, 25, of Meadville - disorderly conduct
- Juvenile male, 16, of Meadville - disorderly conduct
- Juvenile male, 16, of Meadville - disorderly conduct
- Juvenile male, 16, of Uniontown - simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct
- Joseph Chabot, 37, of Meadville - disorderly conduct
The PIAA has declared that game a double forfeit, meaning both teams are eliminated from the playoffs.
"It's something we can tell you will not be happening in the future," said Chief Stefanucci. "Moving forward, Meadville is going to be known for its good athletics and not what's happening in the stands."
No serious injuries were reported, according to police.
