Highmark Health Reports $209M in Operating Losses for 2024
Highmark Health reported $29.4 billion in revenue for 2024, a 9 percent increase from last year. Despite industry challenges, the company posted $50 million in net income but faced $209 million in operating losses.
Highmark Health Plans struggled with rising medical costs and high prescription drug prices, reporting $166 million in losses. However, Allegheny Health Network saw a 9 percent revenue increase, driven by higher patient volumes across all care areas.
Diversified businesses like United Concordia Dental and HM Insurance Group performed well, contributing $4.1 billion in revenue. Highmark’s CEO says the company remains focused on long-term strategies to improve health outcomes and manage costs.
