Experts at Shoe Fly Shoes Ensure Proper Footwear Fit: Giving You the Business

Feet are the foundation of a body. A local business makes sure shoes are fitted properly for workers, runners, and anyone who walks in the door. But it's not all that's offered there.
"Better footwear, proper footwear makes a big difference on your daily activities and your lifestyle," said Traci Maley, co-store manager & certified pedorthist.
Traci is the co-store manager and general manager for Shoe Fly Shoes. She's been with the Pennsylvania-based company for 22 years, seven of them at this Erie County location, which is essentially three stores in one, off Peach Street in Summit Township.
It's where work boots are in surplus. Various running shoes are stocked through the Appalachian Running Company. Along with dress and casual shoes.
"We were Meeker Marshall," said Mike Hanlin, co-store manager & certified pedorthist. "Art Oligieri was the local owner. He became partners with Shoe Fly, and so it became Meeker Marshall Shoe Fly and moved up to this location in December of 2009."
A lot has changed since then, a new look, and the addition of accessories too, from purses and bags to running-related gear and snacks.
The staff is well-versed in all products, including some staff being certified pedorthist.
"We're not a doctor, but we do have the certification and licensing to understand a doctor's recommendations of footwear, biomechanics, and anatomy of the foot and ankle," said Traci.
They work with podiatrists, chiropractors, and physical therapists to help diabetic and foot surgery patients.
"We can fit them properly with shoes and make any accommodations and adjustments to those shoes as needed," said Traci.
In-store equipment can show the status of feet and produce an over-the-counter orthotic, or a more customized insert can be molded and heated up right on site.
But customers can also test purchased footwear on a store treadmill, helping to make the shoe-buying experience more personal.
The store also serves as a race packet pick-up location for runners in the Erie half and full marathons, and works with local gyms to help fit members for footwear to help their workouts.
