Pennsylvania Department Urges SNAP Recipients to Update EBT Card PINs

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is urging SNAP recipients to update their EBT card PINs before monthly benefits are distributed each month.
Officials said this simple step can help prevent theft, as criminals often use skimming devices to steal card information and wait until benefits are loaded to strike.
They recommend checking card readers for skimming devices, which may look bulkier or have loose parts. If you spot one, report it to the retailer, law enforcement or the state’s fraud hotline at 1-800-932-0582.
You can change your PIN by calling 1-888-328-7366, using the ConnectEBT website or app, or through the myCOMPASS PA app. DHS has also enhanced PIN security and is exploring more protections, like card-locking features.
If your benefits are stolen, the Department of Human Services asks you to report it immediately and request a replacement card. You can call 211 or visit pa211.org for urgent food assistance.
