New Art Exhibit Opening at PennWest University’s Bruce Gallery
A new art exhibition is opening at PennWest University’s Bruce Gallery in Edinboro.
The gallery will host the opening of Broken Landscapes, a thesis exhibition by MFA candidate Lorena Alvarez, on Wednesday, April 9, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The show features paintings, mixed media, and installations exploring the relationship between human activity and nature.
Alvarez’s work highlights the tension between progress and environmental destruction, focusing on how abandoned structures interact with resilient landscapes in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The exhibition includes interactive installations that encourage reflection on humanity’s role in preserving the planet. Alvarez uses symbolic materials, like wooden panels and chine-collé prints, to emphasize the fragile connection between people and the environment.
An artist talk will take place at 5 p.m. during the opening.
Broken Landscapes runs through Sunday, April 20, and admission is free.
