Richard Allen, the Chief Executive Officer of Warren General Hospital, has announced plans for his retirement. Warren General Hospital and LECOM Health have appointed Dan Grolemund, the current Administrator at LECOM Health Corry Memorial Hospital, as his successor. 

Grolemund will step into the role effective July 1, 2025. 

Following 40 years in hospital and healthcare leadership roles including more than a decade as Chief Executive Officer, Allen will retire on June 30.

“My time leading Warren General Hospital has been the pinnacle of my career, and I have been honored to help achieve our vision of a high-quality, independent, community-focused and fiscally stable organization,” said Allen. “Improving care access and healthcare quality and service to the residents of Warren County and the surrounding region is very important work. I have enjoyed every day, and I am proud of our community hospital and dedicated employees.”

Allen’s list of accomplishments as CEO includes the following:

  • Over a 10-year period achieved an unprecedented economic and strategic turnaround resulting in consistent positive operating margins
  • Awarded two Truven “Top 100” designations as one of the best community hospitals in the nation
  • Won the HAP “Optimal Operations” award for excellence in hospital management
  • Established a unique partnership with AHN and LECOM Health while remaining an independent community-focused hospital
  • Achieved 20% + growth in net revenue topping $100 million/year through enhanced community engagement, new services and a focus on quality and service
  • Invested over $40 million in hospital facility improvements and new equipment including DaVinci Robotic Surgical Platform, 3D mammography, MediTech Expanse E.H.R., renovations to the ER and maternity unit, and much more
  • Established a culture of success including quality, service and economics
