Visas Revoked for 6 International Students at Gannon University
Visas have been revoked for six of Gannon University's international students and several graduates with Optional Practical Training (OPT) post-graduate work permits, the university announced in a letter to its community.
Gannon's president Dr. Walter Iwanenko said the issue isn’t unique to Gannon; it’s happening at schools nationwide.
More than 20 percent of the university's students are international, so Gannon will likely see more cases than other schools, Iwanenko said.
The university said it is committed to supporting its international community through its Office of Global Support, academic deans, and counseling services.
The letter encourages students to avoid international travel due to risks like visa delays and border issues. Those staying for summer can apply for housing through the student portal.
Faculty and staff are also being asked to contact campus police if approached by law enforcement.
Gannon said it is working with lawmakers to navigate this situation and encourages anyone affected to seek help.
