Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced the completion of AgriAmerica Fruit Products LLC’s expansion and revitalization project at its 69,000-square-foot grape juice processing plant in Fredonia.

The project has already created five new full-time jobs, along with numerous seasonal positions, and is expected to support 469 full-time equivalent jobs over the next four years in agriculture and related industries.

"We are excited to announce this development," stated Michael Ferguson, Mayor of the Village of Fredonia, NY. "It was very sad to have that building sit vacant for so long, especially since this area has always been known as an agricultural hub. This expansion means a lot and will benefit many people, farms, and the community as a whole."

The expansion is the result of a collaborative effort between the State of New York, Chautauqua County, Empire State Development, the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, and the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council. The project received nearly $500,000 in funding through the state’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.

Mark Geise, CEO of the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, said, “This project helps support the local economy and address challenges like population decline. It wasn't easy but it has been a strong collaborative effort to get here, and we are not stopping. We are going to continue to be proactive and intentional in attracting businesses and people to our area, to live, to work, and to set up business in Chautauqua County."

The expansion also provides additional support for about 100 local Concord grape farms, helping strengthen the area’s agricultural industry.

Officials say this is one step in their process to strengthen the region's future, support local business, create jobs and boost the economy.
