A fire broke out Thursday, May 1st at a multi-family residence located at 1917 Pennsylvania Avenue East in downtown Warren, prompting a swift response from emergency crews and displacing multiple residents.
 
According to City of Warren Fire Department Captain Jason Schott, the fire was reported at approximately 7:55 p.m. on May 1st. The two-story structure housed two separate apartments and a business on the second floor. Five individuals were living in one unit and four in the other at the time of the incident.
 
Emergency crews from the City of Warren Fire Department, Warren Police Department, and EmergyCare responded quickly to the scene. All residents were safely evacuated, and the fire was contained to a single room.
 
One resident experiencing breathing difficulties was transported to the hospital by EmergyCare. A five-month-old infant was taken to Warren General Hospital by a family member for evaluation as a precaution. No injuries were reported among emergency responders.
 
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
 
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families as they recover from the incident.
