Warren County came together Saturday, May 3rd, to give long-overdue recognition to its Vietnam War era veterans.
The Warren County Veterans Affairs Office, in collaboration with the Warren County YMCA Be-Well Warrior Program, hosted a Welcome Home Parade to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
Local veterans, their families, and members of the community lined the streets to honor those who served—many of whom returned home decades ago without a formal thank you.
“It's nice to see local support for the people who came before us,” said Sgt. Frank Williams, US Army Veteran. “It's inspiring for those of us who served or are currently serving, to see that they are getting the recognition that they deserve."
State Representative Kathy Rapp also attended and spoke about the significance of the event.
“This is deeply personal,” Rapp said. “As a former military spouse who witnessed the treatment these men and women first received when they came home - it is so important that we show them how grateful we truly are for their and their families sacrifices and give them the welcome home that they deserve.”
The event served as both a celebration and a moment of reflection, offering long-awaited appreciation to those who answered the call to serve.
The Warren County Veteran Affairs Office and Warren County YMCA Be-Well Warrior Program will be continuing the celebration with a Welcome Home Ceremony on May 8th at 4:00PM held at the War Memorial Field located at 212 Lexington Ave. in Warren, PA.
