Officials Urge Caution Around Farm Equipment on Rural Roads

Farm equipment on rural roads in Lander, PA
Warren County officials are reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert as more farm equipment begins appearing on roadways during planting season.
Local law enforcement has received several reports of motorists speeding near large farm vehicles on rural roads. These slow-moving machines are legally permitted on all major roadways and are typically marked with an orange reflective triangle, signaling they are traveling under 25 miles per hour.
Warren County Detective Brian Zeybel says drivers need to be patient and cautious when approaching tractors and other equipment.
“Just please slow down—slow down for these farm tractors and the farm equipment,” Zeybel said. “A familiar orange triangle—you know that means less than 25 miles an hour. It might cost you an extra two minutes to get to work, but it’s better to cost actually two minutes than to have a crash with a piece of farm equipment or have somebody get hurt.”
Authorities say planting season often brings more agricultural traffic to rural areas, and giving these vehicles space can help prevent serious accidents.
