On May 9, AHN Saint Vincent celebrated their nurses.

The hospital held their annual nurse's week awards ceremony and recognized ten nurses on their staff. The Chief Nursing Officer, Sallie Piazza, shared one story about the nursing staff:

"We had a patient that was in ICU that had lived with his significant other for many many years and was dying, and he regretted that he was not, that they weren't married. The nursing staff took it upon themselves to put together a quick little wedding. We had a priest come, we could marry the couple, they had cake, they had music, and friends came, and it was a beautiful thing, and the gentleman was so happy, and he passed later on about five or six hours later. But it was a wonderful, wonderful thing that the nurses did, and that's what embodies nursing."

In addition to the awards ceremony, AHN Saint Vincent Hospital hosted day one of their special reunion weekend for the graduates of Saint Vincent's School of Nursing. The alumni were able to take a tour of the facilities, specifically where the school's old dormitories were located. That location is now used as offices in the campus's education building.

Quality Manager Jacque Domico says, "To have them come back and see how everything has changed, they are a part of our community, they were women, men and women from our community that have gone to school here and continue to give back to the community."

The school was opened in 1901 and closed in 1999, and it had around 2,000 to 3,000 students in that time according to Domico. The school was also founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
