A longtime tradition continued at Presque Isle this weekend.

In celebration of World Migration Bird Day on Saturday, members of the Erie Bird Observatory set up a bird banding station at Fry's Landing. It's a chance to see birds up close and personal.

The group set up safe nets to catch birds around Presque Isle. They put aluminum bands on their legs, which help gather valuable data once the birds migrate and return to the state park each year.

Bird banding has been conducted at Presque Isle since 1960.
