Perseus House Helps Teens Triumph Over Trauma
For over 50 years Perseus House has served the youth of Erie and their families. It started off as a small house for young men and has grown into a nonprofit organization that houses up to 90 teenagers (male and female) that need a change.
Perseus House offers Community Based programs to those in need. They offer cutting edge Residential Treatment and Intervention. They also offer prevention services. Their programs include education about communication, teaching pro social behavior, and also showing children how to interact at home, in school, and in the community.
Amira Sager was a part of the program as teenager. She says "I was in three different programs as a teenager here. I had some behavioral issues, and I was also using drugs as a teenager."
Sager now works at Perseus House has a Behavioral Technician.
She says "I think this is a good place to heal from trauma. I think this it is a good place to learn how to function in life later as an adult."
