Erie Part of AG Sweep: Over 400 Illegal Gambling Devices Seized Statewide
The Office of the Attorney General announced seizures of more than 400 illegal gambling devices from dozens of western Pennsylvania establishments. The Attorney General also filed charges against two companies operating the machines.
The office filed felony corrupt organizations charges against Buffalo Skill Games Inc. and J.J. Amusement, Inc.
According to the Office of the Attorney General, the companies are owned and operated by John F. Conley, who has prior federal convictions for illegal gambling.
Pa. State Police assisted Gaming Enforcement Agents in a series of seizures in March at bars, gas stations, and convenience stores in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Crawford, Indiana, Somerset, Venango, Erie, Washington, Armstrong, and Westmoreland counties.
”These devices were essentially slot machines dressed up as skill games,” said Attorney General Dave Sunday. “I commend our partners at the Pennsylvania State Police for helping disband a large-scale operation that netted a tremendous amount of illegal gambling profits.”
The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Attorney General's Gaming Enforcement Section.
