Memorial Day is often seen as the unofficial start to summer and in past years, Presque Isle's beaches have been packed with swimmers and sunbathers.

The weekend brought cooler temperatures, keeping crowds a little lighter. Still, that didn't stop visitors from making the most of the holiday.

Beachgoers soaked up sun where they could, walked the shore, and some even braved a dip in the lake.

Even with the chill, the holiday spirit was alive along the shoreline.
