Dunkirk's 2nd Annual Walleye Festival Slated at City Pier
The second annual Dunkirk Walleye Festival will take over the Dunkirk City Pier from June 6 to June 8, offering a full weekend of fishing, live music, vendors, and family fun.
The festival’s main attraction is the 5th Annual WNY Walleye Classic, a professional fishing tournament hosted by Primitive Patriot Outdoors and directed by Josh Larsen.
Teams of two to five anglers will compete for top prizes by weighing in their six biggest catches on Friday and Saturday.
The event is sponsored by numerous local businesses and brands.
Highlights include:
•Big Fish Friday (June 6) with weigh-in at 5 p.m. and music by the Scott Celani Band’s Tom Petty Tribute from 7–10 p.m.
•Main Event Saturday (June 7) with a 7 a.m. shotgun start, weigh-in at 5 p.m., and live music from The Committed (1–3 p.m.) and West of the Mark (7–10 p.m.).
•Kids’ Fishing Clinic and Tournament (June 8) at 8 a.m., led by pro angler Craig Sleeman.
The pier will be closed to traffic from noon on June 5th through late morning June 9th.
Food, craft, and fishing vendors will be open daily, and Clarion Hotel is offering discounted rates for attendees.
Last year’s event drew over 250 anglers and awarded nearly $48,000 in prizes.
