The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a $10 million investment to fund facility improvements at five public-use airports across the state, advancing infrastructure development and economic growth under Governor Josh Shapiro’s administration.

The projects, funded through the state’s Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, will support safety upgrades, terminal expansions, and infrastructure enhancements in Bucks, Jefferson, Lehigh, and Luzerne counties.

The funds will support the following projects:

•Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport – $6.2 million to expand the terminal and upgrade TSA screening.

•Lehigh Valley International Airport – $1.5 million for a new parking structure.

•Quakertown Airport – $1.1 million for new hangars.

•Doylestown Airport – Over $1 million combined for hangar rehab, structure removal, and water access improvements.

•DuBois Regional Airport – $225,000 for renovations to the administration building.

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll emphasized the role of aviation in linking communities and supporting jobs in a $34 billion industry that employs more than 226,000 Pennsylvanians.
