As the now 50% tariffs on aluminum and steel imports have officially gone into effect, Dr. Ken Louie said American consumers will have to decide if short-term pain will be worth long-term gain.

Bo Morrell, owner of Kelly Steel & Manufacturing in Cochranton, said the business is already manufacturing domestically and their cost is remaining stable.

Morrell called the tariffs a "blessing."

According to a new report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the tariffs would cause the economy to shrink and add to inflation but would reduce the federal deficit by $2.8 trillion dollars over a 10-year period.
