Free Children's Bike Rodeo Set for June 24 in Erie

PennDOT and Safe Kids Erie County will host a free children's bicycle rodeo on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the parking lot of East Middle School to promote safe biking habits among youth this summer.
In case of rain, the event will move indoors to the school gym.
Open to children of all ages, the event runs from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Participants should bring a bike and helmet and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign a permission slip.
Kids will navigate an obstacle course to learn skills like balance, turning, and hand signaling.
Helmet checks will be conducted, and a limited number of free helmets will be provided by UPMC Hamot Trauma Services and the Hamot Health Foundation.
Bert’s Bikes and Fitness and the Erie Bike Cooperative will offer bike inspections and minor repairs.
Loaner bikes will be available in limited sizes for children without one. Every participant will be entered into a drawing to win a new bicycle, also donated by UPMC Hamot and Hamot Health Foundation.
A light meal will be provided, courtesy of State Rep. Pat Harkins and Sam’s Club.
