Students at Warren Area Elementary Center were greeted with music, laughter, and inflatable dinosaurs on the last day of school, as teachers donned costumes and danced outside the building Friday morning.

Lined up at the front entrance, staff and faculty members waved and welcomed children as they stepped off buses and out of cars, playing upbeat music and setting the tone for a joyful sendoff.

“The looks on their faces were priceless,” said counselor, Missy McNett. “We wanted to start the day in a fun way.”

"We have been doing this now for the past two years," stated Kendra Darr, Assistant Principal. "It's just so much fun to see the kids on the last day of school being excited to be here and to see us like this. But honestly I think the adults are having a bit more fun than the kids."

The celebration is now in its second year and is part of the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiative, which rewards students for good behavior and positive choices throughout the year.

“It’s our way to celebrate them,” Kristen Everetts, School Counselor added. “They’ve worked hard all year, and we wanted to make this day special.”

Costumes ranged from inflatable dinosaurs to the wacky waving arm guy, creating a festive scene that students will likely remember long after the final bell.
