The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office and Jamestown Police Department are partnering with the Jamestown Tarp Skunks for a special community night at the ballpark Wednesday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. at Russell E. Diethrick Park.
The event is part of New York State’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative, which supports efforts to reduce gun violence and build stronger community relationships through outreach and engagement.
“This is our send year for the event," stated Madeline Contiguglia, Executive Assistant for the District Attorney. "Everyone had fun last year so we wanted to do it again, as it gives us a chance to have real conversations with people in a relaxed setting. For community members who may have questions about what we do, or civics questions as well - we will be there in person to answer them and connect with the community we serve.”
Three hundred free tickets were made available to the public and many will still be available for pick up at the gate on game night.
Tarp Skunks General Manager Christian Dolce added that the team is proud to take part. “A lot of what we do is centered around the community, as we are a community owned team," he said. "Being able to have our fans and community come out to the game and interact with police and the people helping enforce the law, and perhaps hopefully eliminate gun violence - it's really encouraging. This is a great way to bring everyone together to talk and enjoy a great game too."
The event is open to all ages and aims to foster meaningful connections while supporting public safety in Jamestown.
