Brian Wilson, co-founder of The Beach Boys, died at the age of 82, according to a social media post from his family.
Along with his brothers, Carl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine, Wilson started the group back in the 1960's and they are still touring today.
He was considered one of the most gifted singers, songwriters, and producers in the history of American pop music, capturing the optimism of the early 1960s youth culture.
Wilson was the mastermind behind the world-renowned album, Pet Sounds, and so many other songs and albums that the band produced.
Wilson won multiple Grammy awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 along with the rest of the band.
