HistERIE Week is back for 2025, offering a week-long series of programs across Erie County to celebrate and explore local history. Running from June 13–20, the event features walking tours, artisan workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and lectures that bring Erie’s heritage to life.

Organized by the Erie County Public Library (ECPL), HistERIE Week highlights local landmarks including the Presque Isle Lighthouse, Hornby School, the Gospel Hill Burial Ground, and Penn State Behrend’s Federal House.

The series began in 2022 as a way to promote the library’s Heritage Room and has grown into a collaborative, county-wide effort with partner organizations.

Highlights this year include:

Gravestone Cleaning Workshops at the Soldiers & Sailors Veterans Memorial Cemetery (June 16)

The Our West Bayfront Bike Tour led by Erin Phillips of Old Erie on Foot (June 14)

Spencerian Script Calligraphy Workshop with Hornby School Restoration Society (June 15)

Presque Isle Lighthouse Tower Climb (June 18)

Virtual genealogy workshop with PA Ancestors (June 18)

Events are free or low-cost, and many require registration. The full schedule is available at the ECPL’s HistERIE Week landing page.
