The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that all driver license and photo centers will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth National Freedom Day.

Juneteenth marks the date in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news of the Civil War’s end and emancipation.

The day is officially recognized in Pennsylvania as a commemoration of freedom and progress.

Although physical locations will be closed, PennDOT’s online services remain available 24/7 at www.dmv.pa.gov.

Services include renewals, duplicates, address changes, REAL ID processing, and more with no extra fees for online use.
