Today, three local Erie students competed in the state civic bee.
Jason is a student from James W. Parker Middle School. Theofanis and Casey hail from Erie Day School.
All three boys earned their spot at the state bee after winning in regional competitions. The students performed well today at the state level, but did not place for awards.
This year's civics bee was held in State College, Pennsylvania. The bee is hosted by the Pennsylvania Business and Industry Chamber. It encourages young students to learn about government and how policies shape their communities.
This year’s winner will compete at the National Civics Bee later in the year.
