The Audubon Community Nature Center is inviting the public to explore how gender shows up in nature during a unique program titled “Gender Diversity in the Natural World” on Saturday, June 28 from 3–4:30 p.m.

Led by Audubon volunteer and board member Miles Hilton, the guided walk will highlight how plants, animals, and fungi express gender in fascinating and unexpected ways, from intersex deer and trans lions to fungi with thousands of sexes.

Hilton, an artist, writer, and programmer, has led nature programs at the Allegany Nature Pilgrimage and enjoys sharing ecological curiosities with others.

The walk is about one mile on flat ground. Participants should dress for the weather.

Cost is $8 for adults and $6 for youth ages 9–15 and Nature Center members.

Pre-registration is encouraged at AudubonCNC.org/events, but walk-ins are welcome.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, just off Route 62 between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa.

Visitors can also enjoy five miles of trails, live birds of prey, and interactive exhibits year-round.
