Meadville is set to transform an empty downtown lot into a vibrant parklet, thanks to a $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant, part of the company’s nationwide initiative to support revitalization in small towns across America.

The grant will fund the transformation of 960 Park Avenue into a welcoming greenspace that connects to The Arc Community Greenspace, creating a new downtown gateway and enhancing walkability, public space, and community gathering.

“We’re honored that T-Mobile chose to invest in Meadville,” said Mayor Jaime Kinder. “This project supports our goals of smart revitalization and creative reuse of vacant spaces, while making our downtown more vibrant and accessible.”

Jim Miale, Board President of the Meadville Redevelopment Authority, said the project will “bring life, activity, and new opportunities” to the city’s core.

Allegheny College President Dr. Ron Cole, business owner Heather Fish, and leaders from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts all praised the project as a model of collaboration and creative placemaking.

Since launching in 2021, T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants have brought over $735,000 to 22 Pennsylvania towns, including Harrisburg, York, and Hershey.

A check presentation will be held on Friday, June 20 at 4:30 p.m. at The Arc Community Greenspace (967 Market Street).
